An Operating System is the software that communicates with the hardware of a computer and serves as the intermediary between apps and the hardware, which includes peripheral devices such as a printer, a mouse or a keyboard. When you run software, it transmits requests to the OS through an API (Application Program Interface) and the contact is done via a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI). Just like a personal computer, web servers also use an Operating System which acts as a host for any software installed on them, including script applications or server-side software such as a flash server, a VOIP server, etcetera. A virtual machine can be set up on a physical one, so you can install a guest OS on it and have a different system environment in contrast with the physical server host OS.

Multiple OS in VPS Hosting

We offer as many as 3 different Linux releases for the Operating System of our virtual private servers - Debian, CentOS and Ubuntu. These are among the safest and the most reliable OSs out there and we provide all three instead of only 1 because we realize that you may want to set up some software which has specific requirements regarding the Operating System it will run on. The latter is because each of the three Operating Systems has a large support community behind it and there're different software programs you could install on the server. Your OS selection will also determine exactly what hosting Control Panel can be set up on the VPS in case you wish to use one and that's why we offer multiple Control Panels too. If you ever decide that you need some other OS, our technical support can quickly wipe the existing one and set up the one that you want. In addition, we offer an optional service to keep the OS on your VPS updated weekly.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Web Hosting

In case you decide to buy one of our dedicated servers, you will find three Operating Systems on the registration page since we want to give you a larger choice with regard to the system environment on the machine as different apps can have certain requirements. CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian feature different modules developed by their vast support communities, so you can select each of these OSs and benefit from a stable and secure web hosting service. Depending on your decision, you'll also have different Control Panels to choose from. Needless to say, we can always replace the Operating System if the one you've selected at first doesn't meet the requirements of the software that you want to run. We can also update the OS routinely to keep it as risk-free as possible using our Managed Services upgrade package.
